Cleaning Products For The Great Room

Cleaning day is everyone’s favorite day, right? Just kidding! I know it is definitely not my favorite day, but I do try to make the most of it. I am going to do a short series of blog posts where I go room by room and share my favorite cleaning supplies for that specific room. This post is all about cleaning products for the great room.

Did I mention that I also like to keep my cleaning routine simple? I try to use as few products as possible, so it is time and cost efficient. The four items I use in the great room are wet mopping cloths, glass cleaner, a microfiber rag, and a magic eraser.

dusting shelf with microfiber cloth

I’m pretty sure it was my mom who introduced me to dusting with a microfiber cloth. That was years ago and I have been using them ever since. They take the dust right off any surface and I will not use anything else. And once I’m done, I just throw it right into the washer. I also like to use the magic eraser for any hard to remove spots on shelves and walls.

using glass cleaner to clean the mirror

Glass cleaner is an oldie, but goodie I like to use on mirrors and some glass. I spray it directly on the mirror and then wipe if off with a paper towel. I must admit, I’m not crazy about using it on doors and windows. I find that it leaves a lot of streaks and prefer to use a vinegar mixture instead.

mopping hardwood floors

And last, but certainly not least, are the floors! I love hardwood floors, but they can sometimes show a lot of dust, dirt, and dog hair. I have been using Swiffer wet cloths for many years and I think they work great! I know some people feel torn about using them because it seems like a lot of unnecessary waste. I personally don’t like thinking about all of the germs a regular mop harbors. And that’s a wrap on cleaning products for the great room.
